Yesterday was the first time we played together with Saara, a sensitive and skilled cellist and my childhood friend. The new instrument brought amazing depth and urgency to Strawberry Gin, and we are beside ourselves with joy as we listen to the practice recordings.
This is also the first time that we’ve made any sheet music of our songs, and it has been very interesting as neither of us is very skilled in music theory. It doesn’t help that our songs frequently change key and possibly also time signature somewhere in the middle, sometimes twice, but we’re doing our best.
Actually, the magnificence of Saara also creates some problems in the studio – she sounds so divine that sometimes I just start to listen and forget the melody I was going to sing! Hopefully time and practice will cure me.
